Understand which assessment steps your role includes and why some may not appear

Not every role includes every step

The assessment steps you see depend on how the recruiter configured the role. Some roles include an AI conversation, some include a video intro, and some skip the assessment entirely. This is normal and doesn't mean anything is wrong with your application.

What determines which steps I see?

The recruiter chooses which assessment components to include when setting up the role. The possible steps are:

  • Competencies (AI Interview) — A structured conversation with Mokka AI about key skills relevant to the role. This is the most comprehensive assessment step.
  • Role Expectations — Share specific examples of your achievements and how they relate to the role's goals.
  • Career Progression — Describe your career trajectory and how your past roles prepared you for this position.
  • Personal Intro (Video) — A short video introducing yourself. This is optional even when included.

Common reasons you might not see an AI interview

  1. The recruiter didn't enable it for this role — The recruiter chose to evaluate candidates based on CV and application answers only, without an AI conversation step.

  2. The role uses a simplified assessment — Some roles are configured with just application questions and CV review, skipping the AI interview entirely.

  3. You already completed it — If you finished the AI interview in a previous session, the step may no longer appear. Check your progress menu — completed steps are marked as done.

  4. You're in the first part of a split application — Some roles split the process into two parts: application questions first, then a separate assessment session. If you submitted your initial answers, you'll receive an email invitation to return for the AI interview portion.

  5. Your application was auto-screened out — In rare cases, if your answers to mandatory screening questions don't meet the role's minimum requirements, the assessment steps may be shortened.

I see the step but can't access it

Does skipping the AI interview hurt my chances?

If the AI interview step doesn't appear for your role, your application is still fully evaluated based on the steps that are included. Every role is different — the recruiter designed the assessment to match what matters most for that position.

If you have concerns about a specific step not appearing, reach out to the recruiter or hiring company directly.
