Mokka standardizes how salary information is presented to ensure clarity and consistency across all job postings. This includes how one-sided salary ranges are shown and how pay periods are normalized.
Display of One-Sided Salary Bounds
When a salary range is provided with only a minimum or only a maximum value, Mokka displays this information clearly:
- Minimum-only salary: If only a minimum salary is specified (e.g., "$50,000+"), Mokka will display it as "Starting at $50,000".
- Maximum-only salary: If only a maximum salary is specified (e.g., "Up to $70,000"), Mokka will display it as "Up to $70,000".
- Full range: If both a minimum and maximum are provided (e.g., "$50,000 - $70,000"), it will be displayed as "$50,000 - $70,000".
Pay Period Normalization and Appending
Mokka normalizes various input terms for pay periods into a consistent set of standard terms. These standardized pay periods are then appended to the displayed salary figures.
Common pay period normalizations include:
- Annually: Inputs like "per year", "yearly", "annual" are normalized to "Annually".
- Monthly: Inputs like "per month", "monthly" are normalized to "Monthly".
- Weekly: Inputs like "per week", "weekly" are normalized to "Weekly".
- Hourly: Inputs like "per hour", "hourly" are normalized to "Hourly".
Example:
- If you input a salary of "$60,000 per year", Mokka will display it as "$60,000 Annually".
- If you input a salary of "Starting at $25 per hour", Mokka will display it as "Starting at $25 Hourly".
- If you input a salary of "Up to $5,000 monthly", Mokka will display it as "Up to $5,000 Monthly".
This standardization ensures that candidates see clear and consistent salary information, regardless of how the original data was entered.
